Leaving for Edmonton to stay overnight so it's not a mad rush if we were to leave Friday...

...but not before baking Potica on Wednesday. Despite not having a grinder to grind the walnuts, I had to make do with a smoothie maker LOL. This was the first time I made Potica without mum next to me to guide me. I think I did alright. Everyone ate it, so it can't have been that bad, right?!

Going to miss everyone. It's taken me almost eight years to get to Canada and I hope it won't take me that long to go back. Aiming to return in July 2019. This time I'll time things much better to celebrate Canada Day, see the Calgary Stampede and experience A Taste of Edmonton, a massive food festival and of course, see all the family again.

Had to do a bit of last minute shopping and a few returns, so was running around like a headless chicken, but not before we grabbed lunch at the Italian Centre Shop outside WEM....delicious Italian food. Sadly no room for dessert...next time.
With all the shopping, I ended up having to buy another bag, so I had four in total. I knew one extra bag would be $200CAD but thankfully, the check in staff allowed me to take the fourth bag for nothing. I was so thankful and relieved.
Edmonton is four hours from GC.

After a few pit stops, checked into the hotel and got ready for the graduation.
The following day we hit up West Edmonton Mall...it's so big I only saw a tiny bit of it. Went kinda crazy shopping. How was I going to fit everything in the two suitcases I came with? I'll worry about that when it comes time to packing for the journey home.
After a long day shopping, it was pizza and beer night in the hotel.

Heading back tomorrow back to GC.Nessahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00685608763103000286noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7454723452408854049.post-62489103161805838072017-06-12T00:00:00.002-07:002017-07-11T01:32:46.185-07:00Chillaxing.Didn't really get much of a sleep in. After breakfast, I unloaded the suitcase. Whilst I had everything packed in those cells, using a wardrobe and draws is much easier.

As the sun was out after a few days of rain, sat outside whilst I watch my cousin, Julia, play and chase the dogs and cat.

Kinda just chilled out for the rest of the day.

Unfortunately as my cousin and his wife work during the day, our little day trips are limited to the weekends and without a car, I can't get too far on my feet LOL.

At least I'll be saving some money, right?! Stupid me looked at my bank balance...oops! Oh well, that's what holidays are for, right?!?!Nessahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00685608763103000286noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7454723452408854049.post-77258958766091611372017-06-12T00:00:00.001-07:002017-07-11T01:31:38.567-07:00Exploring the town.I decided that I would cook dinner for everyone tonight, Chicken Tetrazzini. Everyone back home loves it, so thought I'd introduce the family here to it. Again, as I have no car, I walked 20 minutes to the supermarket. I was probably there for an hour just looking around. It isn't overly big but I had to go back and forth a few times to find what I needed.

Half way home, just my luck, it started to rain. Luckily it wasn't heavy.

Started prepping dinner during the afternoon so everything was ready to go once everyone got home from work.

I brought my recipe journal with me, as well as a few cooking magazines so I can make dinner whilst I'm here.

Tomorrow we're all off to Edmonton for the weekend as we're going to a graduation and then check out West Edmonton Mall and perhaps stock up on some groceries for during the week, as things will be cheaper compared to here. Although prices are not astronomically high, things cost a little more than in the big smoke, which is expected when you live in a small town.Nessahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00685608763103000286noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7454723452408854049.post-2263888197623445622017-06-12T00:00:00.000-07:002017-07-11T01:31:22.753-07:00Reuniting with the family.Both of us had slept through the alarm...oops!

After breakfast, we made our way to Lake Louise, just over two hours from Calgary.

Another perfect day with the sun shining. Arriving at Lake Louise, the blue I see in photos is just as spectacular in real life. I couldn't believe that I was standing on the edge of the stunning Lake Louise. WOW!!! Followed the walking trail around as far as it could go. Unfortunately due to snow melting and rain, it left the tracks a little mushy. Turned back then went to check out the famous Chateau Lake Louise....tres grand! Maybe when I will Tattslotto, I'll stay here but in the meantime, I can only dream. Room start at $780CAD 😮.

Driving to the Icefields, we noticed a lot of cars pulled over the side of the road. My cousin informs me that it's most likely a bear or moose, so of course I insisted he pull over. It was definitely a black bear, though not a grizzly. A bit further down was a brown bear but he soon disappeared. I was rapt to see a black bear in the wild. Of course everyone kept a safe distance.

As we were kind of on a time limit, we had to ensure we got to the Icefields, a further two hours from Lake Louise. Again, as my cousin has already been, he had a snooze in the car as home was another 3.5-4 hours away.

Seeing the Athabasa Glacier, it's hard to fathom exactly how big it is until you're on it. Purchased my ticket then waited for the bus to take us to the Ice Explorer.

Shuttle bus was only a few minutes and the Ice Explorer was an approximately 15 minute drive. We were given half an hour on the glacier to take photos. We were probably 1/3 of the way from the base of the glacier as where we were was considered a safe area, with signs to indicate safe zones. The glacier moves approximately 1cm every hour. Was able to drink the glacier water...couldn't get more pure and clean water. Of course it was ice cold! After the glacier, the shuttle bus took us to the Glacier Skywalk, about five minutes down the road. As it was getting late, I only had a quick look around then caught the next bus back to the Discovery Centre. Was hanging out for a coffee but unfortunately the cafe closed at 6.00pm 😠.
Pitstopped in Jasper (1 1/2 hours) for a dinner on the run....Pizza Hut so we could get to home not super late. Arrived at 10.30pm as the kids wanted to see their father and me. Cute little town and busy. Would look amazing with the snow.

As my cousin has done the gondola several times, I went up alone. Unfortunately it was a bit of a wait, so I went to get my coffee and wait whilst my cousin went to wash the car and do a few things whilst waiting for me.

Once again, another spectacular view from the top. Was chilly, so luckily I bought a jacket in Banff which kept me toasty warm along with my windcheater.
Had a light lunch at a local eatery as we were saving ourselves for dinner at the Magpie and Stump. Now with a name like that, one would think that maybe it was Aussie food but no...Mexican.

Did a bit of souvenir shopping then headed off to dinner. Was able to sample a beer as I was curious as to what it tasted like. I had a Stanley Park Sun Setter Summer Ale, which smelt like peaches and had a slight peach taste. Different but it was yum. Unfortunately I was able to have a full mason jar of the sample size, so ended up with a 250ml glass and my cousin settled for a 1lt mason jar of beer. Can't remember which he picked.
The food was, once again (sorry folks!), delicious. Even though we were full to the brim (I blame the damn beer!), neither of us could resist a Beaver Tail, as my cousin had never had one. I had the Maple and he had the Cinnamon Sugar. He devoured the tail like there was no tomorrow and promptly went back for a second, this time Lemon and Sugar. We were already making our way back to our hotel when he decided he wanted a third, so I had to do a few laps so he could get his third tail. the lady there laughed at him. Surely no one goes back three times in the space of a few minutes?!?!

Leaving early tomorrow as we're heading home with stops at Lake Louise and the Columbia Ice Fields.Nessahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00685608763103000286noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7454723452408854049.post-17517839207496709072017-06-10T00:00:00.000-07:002017-07-11T01:27:13.081-07:00Reuniting with my cousin.Today I leave Vancouver and fly out to Edmonton, where my cousin will pick me up and we'll head to Calgary.

Booked a taxi for 5.30am and loaded the bags into the boot. Arrived and checked my bags. Pink one, as it was untouched, was OK. The black bag, however, was 7kg overweight!!! What the?!?!?! How could I have bought 7kg worth of stuff?!?!?! Everything I did purchase, souvenir wise, was small and light. I was dumbfounded. Regardless, I had to pay and was slugged $78CAD on top of my checked bag fees, which I knew I had to pay.

As I was super early, I grabbed my coffee and a muffin and waited near my gate until it was time to leave.

Thankfully it was only a short flight as the seats were damn uncomfortable. I had an empty seat next to me, so I was able to stretch out a little and snooze, seeing as I got up early.

I misunderstood my cousin and thought he was waiting for me at the gate, as he told me where he'd be. I looked around...nothing. I'd wait a few more minutes to see if he'd come in case he was running late...five minutes later...still no cousin.

So thought I'd go grab my bags and message him when I got there. And there he was, waiting for me in baggage claim. Oops! I was so happy to see him as I hadn't seen him for two years when he was last in Australia. He brought a London Fog for me...good cousin LOL.

Bags came out quickly so grabbed them and we made our way to Calgary. Where he lives, he's four hours from Edmonton and eight hours from Calgary, so thought whilst kinda in the area, we'd do Calgary then make our way "home".

Unfortunately it was raining again, which limited the things we could do. Stopped at Cross Iron Mills (approx three hours from Edmonton), as we were both a little peckish and he needed to buy some stuff. The Levis store caught my eye and I had to check out the prices. Ended up buying two pairs for $100CAD. Hope they fit cos I didn't try them on! I just went off the size I was currently wearing (30), though I think I should've gotten 29. Oh well, I'll just have to wear a belt.

Arrived in Calgary about 45 minutes later and as it was a little too early to check in, he showed me a bit around Calgary, albeit from the car due to rain. Showed me where the Calgary Stampede is held and where the Winter Olympics were held in 1988, which is also where the Jamaican bobsled team competed and there's the original bobsled out front.

Went back to hotel and checked in. As shops were open till 9.00pm, we went to dinner at Boston Pizza at Chinook Centre then a quick look around, as stores were almost closing.

Fingers crossed the weather tomorrow will be better.Nessahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00685608763103000286noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7454723452408854049.post-88395747837031003392017-06-08T00:00:00.000-07:002017-07-11T01:25:10.365-07:00Days 5 & 6: Whistler.THURSDAY
Waking up, I looked out the window to see it was raining. Noo!!! I didn't come prepared for rain, meaning I had no umbrella. Luckily I was able to borrow one from the front desk.

I did want to walk to the bus terminal (20 mins) but seeing as it was raining, train it was. Only had to go one stop but it was quicker. Picked up my morning coffee from Starbucks then went to the bus terminal. Departed at 7.30am and it rained the entire trip to Whistler 😢, so not much to really see out the windows. I snoozed a bit...what else could I do, plus buses somehow do that. Must be the gentle rocking?

Arrived just before 10.00am. Found my way to my accommodation for the night. Unfortunately, room wasn't ready yet, so again left my bag then went to have a look around Whistler Village, despite the rain.

Through the mist and rain, I could see the snow still on the mountains. Whilst at Whistler, I want to do the Peak 2 Peak Gondola. As today's weather is up to shit, hopefully tomorrow will be better, otherwise I don't know what I'd do. No point in going up to the top if you can't see anything, right?

I don't know how many laps I did in the rain of the village to kill time before checking in. I thought there would be more?

Returned to hotel and was able to properly check in. I had booked a Crystal Single room and was somehow upgraded to a Crystal King room....wow the bed was MASSIVE!!! Unfortunately I didn't have a view but dammit who cares, I had a huge arse bed and a shower all to myself (at the YWCA in Vancouver, I was sharing with the next room).

Was again undecided what I wanted for dinner as I didn't want to venture too far. Ended up at the Old Spaghetti Factory downstairs. I was able to order a kids pasta and salad. Even that meal was huge for a kid. Managed about half of both.

As I only had a thin jacket, that wouldn't suffice for up top so bought a windcheater. Even though I did bring a thermal skivvy and my fleece tights, a thin jacket just wasn't going to cut it in the cold.

I did plan on going out again to check out the Village all lit up but it was cold, still raining and as the sun goes down late, I couldn't be arsed waiting.

Showered then chilled for the evening and prayed tomorrow's weather would be better, especially for P2P.

FRIDAY

SUNSHINE!!! Yay, so happy to look out my window and see sunshine. I didn't dress completely as I didn't want to overheat prior to going up to P2P. Bought my ticket then went to get my morning Starbucks and waited for the gondola to open. It was about 7deg in the village.

Made it to the top and had to get properly dressed as it was a little bit chilly, probably around 2deg. But wow.....what a spectacular view. Sun was out so everything looked amazing. Went inside to get a hot chocolate to warm up a bit and in just 15 minutes, the fog had rolled in and made everything look dreary. Lucky that moved on quickly and it was back to sunshine. Was going to walk a trail but it was a bit slushy and I didn't have proper footwear and didn't have any spare shoes with me in case I got soaked.

Made my way back down the mountain then decided on lunch. Lots to choose from but couldn't go past El Furniture Warehouse, where EVERYTHING on the menu is $4.95. For me, that's a bargain and how could I pass that up?! Ordered a burger and fries. Fries were meh and the burger was OK, although I could only manage half. What do you expect for $4.95.

Still had a bit of time to kill before my bus back to Vancouver left at 4.30pm, so bought a few more souvenirs.

Arrived back in Vancouver at around 7.30pm and returned to my room....and did the washing. Fun! Killed time by watching Criminal Minds.

I wasn't look forward to repacking the suitcase but had to be done. The pink one remained untouched but my black one had to be rejigged to fit the few things I bought. Dunno why, but I had to extend it to ensure everything fit.

My week in Vancouver, alone, has come to an end as tomorrow, I'll be flying to Edmonton and will be staying with my cousin and his family for three weeks.

I was scared about travelling alone, as I'd never done so before but surprisingly, I did well. Did feel a bit lonely at times, especially when sightseeing as I'm used to having other family with me but I couldn't exactly sit in my hotel room all day/night by myself, could I?

Could I travel alone again? Possibly but I always prefer to travel with others to share the experience, as it's more fun.
Whilst not technically my last day in Vancouver, as I'm not leaving until Saturday, I'm going to Whistler on Thursday and won't be back until late Friday, so today will be last minute sightseeing and souvenir shopping.

I had been asked by my cousin if I'd had a London Fog yet, but it has to be from Second Cup (think Gloria Jeans). What is that you ask? I had no idea either until he told me. It's Earl Grey tea with foamed milk and vanilla syrup (think cappuccino but with tea LOL). I was a bit iffy about trying it as I'm not tea drinker, but I thought what the heck. Well, yum! Also had a whole wheat Blueberry and Lemon Scone for breakfast.

Last night I decided that I would do a harbour cruise to see Vancouver from another viewpoint. Once again, it was a perfect day for a cruise.

Walking back up Robson Street, I passed several bike hire shops and I was undecided if I would hire a bike for an hour and ride around the Seawall. I went to Safeway around the corner to get lunch and think about the bike. I was on my way back to the park to have a solo picnic, again walked past the bike hire and then backtracked. Bugger it, I decided to hire for the hour so I could go around the entire Seawall. I'm glad I did it as the sun was out and there were heaps of people doing the same.

Dropped the bike back and walked Robson Street again back to the hotel. I couldn't be arsed washing my hair so booked myself into the DryBar at Nordstrom for a wash and style, so my hair would look fresh for the next few days. Went back to my room to have the rest of my dinner then head back to Gastown to pick up a few souvenirs.

Walking back, lost my way and kind of ended up near Chinatown, which I did want to see but was told to avoid it as it's not like it used to be. Found my way back somehow and you wouldn't believe it, after all the beautiful days of sunshine, it started to rain. Bugger that, my hair would get wet! Luckily it was only a light drizzle.

Packed my overnight bag because tomorrow...I'm off to Whistler!Nessahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00685608763103000286noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7454723452408854049.post-32144758489927461802017-06-06T00:00:00.000-07:002017-07-11T00:54:27.657-07:00Day 3: Grouse Mountain and Lynn Canyon.Good morning folks! Exploring Vancouver continues and today I'm checking out Grouse Mountain and Lynn Canyon. Took a ferry then a bus to get me to Grouse Mountain. Once again, the sunshine was out. I was so excited that I was going to see snow!!!! Bought my ticket then caught the Skyride to the top, taking in the sights as I ascended. Had a bit of a look around the bottom of the mountain then caught another chairlift to the very top. What a spectacular view. Despite there being snow, it wasn't cold. Had another look around, took a few photos then went back down.
Found my way to the bear habitat and hiding between the trees was a bear! A real life bear. Unfortunately s/he was sleeping but I finally saw a bear! I could hear the lumberjack show going on, so made my way down there to watch a "competition" between two "lumberjacks". Was a funny show, plus one of the "lumberjacks"......hello!

After the show, I went and got a Beaver Tail. No, I didn't eat roadkill! It's kinda like a churro meets donut meets pastry. I settled on plain old cinnamon sugar (other flavours include Lemon and Sugar, Nutella, Salted Caramel and of course, Maple). Once again, delicious!

Even though I have not really had much to eat, everything I have been having has been delicious LOL. What can I say, I love my food 😆.

After Grouse Mountain, caught another bus to take me to Lynn Canyon. I chose LC over Capilano Suspension Bridge as LC was free, whereas CSB had an entry fee. I'm not being a tightarse with my money, but I'll take free things over paid things where I can and according to folks on Trip Advisor, LC is just as good as CSB.

The LC Suspension Bridge sits 50t above the bottom of the canyon.

There are signs everywhere through the park, warning of black bears. Thankfully I didn't see any otherwise I'm sure I would have pooped by pants.

After the bridge, there were two paths: Twin Falls Loop and then Thirty Foot Pool Loop. Did TFL then the TFPL. There were a lot of people dipping their toes in the water, so of course I did too. It was FREEZING! My feet were turning red from icy cold water. Dried off and walked a bit further to the Thirty Foot Pool and there were people swimming there. Maybe they were used to the cold water?! Anywho, the water was a spectacular green colour.

Then I looked up.....dreaded stairs to get back to the top. I should be used to them, seeing as we did so many walks through Hawaii and a shitload of stairs, but I still hate them. No option really, is there?!

Time to head back to the City, so waited for the bus to take me back to the ferry terminal. Decided on Whole Foods for dinner. It was way down the other end of my hotel and a decent walk. I wanted to take a bus but all of them were full. Bought enough so I'd have enough for dinner tomorrow night. Ended up walking as again, every bus was full. At least I'm getting my FitBit steps in!

I was yet to decide what I'm going to do tomorrow as I had done the main things I wanted to see. I'm sure there are a lot more things to see and do in and around Vancouver but losing a day threw a spanner in the works. Oh well, I'll decide tomorrow.Nessahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00685608763103000286noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7454723452408854049.post-78210065174144744122017-06-05T00:00:00.001-07:002017-07-11T00:52:26.099-07:00Day 2 - Granville Island and Stanley Park.After a restful nights sleep, I woke up and had my breakfast which I picked up from IGA yesterday, iced coffee and a mini croissant.

Found my way down to the False Creek Ferry dock and waited for the ferry ($4.50 one way) to take me to Granville Island, which is a peninsula and shopping district known for its public market, brewery and artist community.

I loved browsing the fresh produce area and of course, the sweets. All looked absolutely delicious. I was tempted to buy the Nainamo Bar but I somehow resisted.

After the market, I explored the rest of the area, filled with other little stores. I was trying to kill time before lunch, as it had been recommended to me to go to The Keg, which is where I had my first Canadian beer, a Molson. Wasn't bad if I do say so myself (me, the beer connoisseur lol).

After lunch, I caught another ferry to take me across to the Aquatic Centre so I could catch a bus to take me to Stanley Park. I must say, public transport in Vancouver is a breeze.

I had plans to walk the Seawall but was confused about the distance LOL....I read somewhere it was 9km, then somewhere I saw 27km....the latter of which I found out later was 27km of forest trails within the park....hey, gimme a break, I still have jet lag! Any who, I walked a bit of the Seawall then took a forest trail to Second Beach, walked to Third Beach then backtracked.

Once again, the weather was perfect with the sunshine out all day.

Caught a bus to take me half way to the city then walked around another shopping area with Nordstrom, Old Navy and the like being in the area, so had a quick look around to see if any worthy bargains. Not at Nordstrom but ON had some good deals...but need to refrain from shopping as I have no luggage space currently, as I have a suitcase full of gifts for family, which once offloaded...hello shopping!

Time for a coffee to perk me up so I thought I'd check out Tim Hortons. I heard the donuts there are delish so naturally, I had to try one. Decided on a "latte" and I had a maple donut...coffee was, well, I've had better but the donut certainly made up for that. Yum yum yum!

Back to my room and had the rest of my dinner from last night. Showered and early bed as tomorrow I'm off to Grouse Mountain and Lynn Canyon.Nessahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00685608763103000286noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7454723452408854049.post-71374356870492330002017-06-04T00:00:00.000-07:002017-07-11T00:50:31.733-07:00Take off...one day later.
Had set my alarm for 4.00am. Finally after Friday's hiccup, I'm finally leaving for Canada!!!! Left for the airport at 5.00am as I had to be at the airport three hours before my departure at 9.25am. Didn't know if there would be any roadworks on the Tulla so I'd rather arrive earlier with time to spare than be running around like a madman.

No roadworks thankfully and a short queue to check in for the flight. Now to kill two hours! Went to a bar and had coffee and waited for other family members to arrive to bid me adieu. Close to 8.00am, I was getting a bit antsy and I wanted to go through and clear Customs etc because the lines tends to be long there too. Breezed through no issues.

No flight is enjoyable, whether it is a long or short one. I just want to get to my destination.

Meals were OK and I amused myself by watching Criminal Minds on my iPad. Tried to sleep but can't exactly get comfortable.

Landed at Los Angeles, cleared Immigration, collected my bags (even though they were checked through to Vancouver) and dumped them at the baggage drop off. After sitting for 15 hours, I had to walk to the next terminal, which was about 10 minutes away, plus I needed fresh air. Was hanging out for a coffee, so found the nearest Starbucks, stocked up on US trash mags then made myself comfortable waiting for my onward flight to Vancouver.

Actually started to get a little emotional when walking through "the gates" as I'm used to having someone to greet us...just not this time :'(.

I must say, Vancouver Airport is....WOW! Shits over Melbourne (they're renovating international departures....AGAIN!). LAX was also undergoing renovations too, so nothing flash there.

Was going to train it to my accommodation but with two heavy suitcases (both nudged the limit of 23kg!), I caught a cab instead. Enjoyed the sights as they whizzed past and the sun was out, was absolutely glorious weather!

Unfortunately my room wasn't ready yet, but I was able to leave my bags and I could go exploring somewhat and to try and stay away to keep the jet lag at bay.

Checked out one of the shopping strips, Robson Street. I made it as far as the IGA so being a supermarket, naturally I had to go check it out! It was more to compare prices to back home, see what I couldn't get back home and pick up a few supplies like water and coughchocolatebarscough.

Finally made to my room and went to lie down for an hour as fatigue was started to hit....woke up three hours later! Oops! Lucky the sun sets very late here, after 10.00pm.

Feeling refreshed, I went out exploring again, so whilst still light, found my way down to Gastown to see the famous steam clock and look around the shops there. It's a very popular strip with restaurants and bars amongst the many souvenir shops. Found my way down to Canada Place, which is where the cruise ship terminal is.

As it was getting late and I had yet to have dinner (TBH, I didn't know what I felt like), walked back to my hotel and decided to go to Boston Pizza. I was able to get a half serve of a main, which would allow me to have dinner tonight and the following night, as there was a little kitchenette a few doors down from my room.

After a shower, my head finally hit the pillow at around 11.00pm.

Tomorrow I start exploring Vancouver properly.

Or so I thought

I was on my way to see Geelong v Adelaide play at Simonds Stadium. Went early so we could have a bite to eat...and then I got a text from United Airlines, stating that my flight tomorrow morning was cancelled due to mechanical issues. Although I was confused as the text was saying my flight from Sydney to San Francisco was cancelled, which was not my flight.

So I called UA to try and find out exactly what was going on...except no one was there, despite it being a 24/7 service. Not Happy Jan. Then I thought I would try Melbourne Airport and the agent couldn't really help me, but she was going to transfer me to UA but I told her that I got a recorded message. She too said herself it should be a 24/7 service. So transferred and again, recorded message.

Inside I'm confused, frustrated and upset.

So I had no choice but to call UA in the United States. After close to one hour between speaking to someone and being transferred and being put on hold, I was given two options, neither of which were really suitable but what could I do?

Option 1 (and if I heard correctly): Fly to Sydney from Melbourne then onto San Francisco on Saturday but as there were no other flights going that day, I'd either have been stuck in Sydney for the night or San Francisco. As I said, I didn't understand the agent properly.

Option 2: Depart on Sunday as I would have on Saturday.

Either way, I'd lose a day in Vancouver.

On the upside, I managed to get upgraded to Economy Plus, which gave me that little bit of extra leg room.

So until Sunday....ciao.Nessahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00685608763103000286noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7454723452408854049.post-78854910091899036762017-05-12T22:07:00.000-07:002017-05-12T22:07:03.862-07:003 weeks to go!I can't believe that in three weeks time, I'll be off to Canada.

I'm anxious, nervous and excited. The first two will undoubtedly grow in the coming weeks.

I've yet to even put any thought into packing and deciding which suitcases to take. After years of travel, I've learnt to take minimal clothes etc as a lot never gets worn. For my last trip to Hawaii, I managed to pack almost all my clothes into just carry on. Although I'm sure I'll be taking quite a few gifts for the homesick cousin in Canada, so one case will be just gifts lol.

Seeing as I'm flying United, I hope all goes smoothly, considering how much drama there has been over the last few weeks.

As stated, still a working progress.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">As some of you know, I love to travel, just sometimes time and money doesn't allow me to just take off on a whim...until now. Booking the flights to Canada was a real spur of the moment decision for me.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">You see, I'm turning 40 in November and I had plans to go somewhere, initially Hawaii but for just a week, it was a little on the exxy side.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">And for the first time ever, I'll be travelling alone. I've always holidayed with family, never alone. (Well, I did Sydney for three days but that really doesn't count, does it?)

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Anywho, so I decided Canada as my cousin lives there. I mentioned to him that I wanted to come in November but he said it'll be cold and won't be able to do much, come in June/July instead. So we pissfarted around with dates that suited both of us and bada bing bada boom, the flights were booked and paid for. I had 24 hours to cancel and get a full refund...just in case. I didn't cancel as I would've disappointed my cousin as I've been saying for years I'll come and visit and I also would have disappointed myself.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">So there you have it. I'll be departing on Saturday 3rd June at 9.25am. Flying United Airlines as they had the best deal for the dates I had chosen. Will be arriving in Vancouver and I'll stay there for the week with an overnight stay in Whistler, as it's only two hours from Vancouver.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Still trying to put together an itinerary for the four-ish days that I have in Vancouver. Obviously I'm not going to see everything...I'll need to save that for when I return. Then it'll be three weeks with my cousin and his family.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

Until next time, toodles xo

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
